Examples of Enhancing Treatment & Care with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: Severe Degloving Wound Associated with Vehicular Trauma

Pepe, a five-year-old Chihuahua was hit by a car – a devastating injury including pelvic fractures and femoral fracture. He was treated by surgery for the fractures by internal fixation and the degloving wound was to be treated by hyperbaric oxygen therapy, antibiotics and hydrotherapy.

Pepe was treated for 6 weeks with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)  2 times a day, five days a week at 2 to 2.5 ATAs. He was treated with oral antibiotics and hydrotherapy for the first four weeks. NO skin debridement, grafts, or flaps were necessary in Pepe’s case.
